He was a man without a face for a good 8 years; his existence merely validated through passing conversation of a childhood friend, who attended Pre-U with him. For years, we read each other’s blog, unknown that we would one day meet. On April 2010, we met for the first time at the lobby of the bank where I worked, and he just joined. The rest, is history.
After 2 years of LDR, he surprised me 2 days before Christmas. It started out as a casual lunch date. Before being seated, the waitress brought out a bouquet of lilies. Touched, I assumed he was compensating me since I had playfully suggested he had never bought me flowers.
After the meal, our dessert came served in a foggy platter. As the cover was lifted, it unveiled the question written on chocolate. With ring in hand and on bended knee, he proposed amidst the cheers of surprised patrons. I’ll always remember that sunny afternoon, atop 38th floor of Grand Hyatt overlooking Petronas Twin Towers, I said: YES!
Isn’t it funny, from strangers to friends and to what we are today, it is serendipitous how the lives of two people become entwined?
