Previously, we have discussed about choosing the right shoes for the bride. Now, we will take a look at the simple guidelines for the bridegroom in choosing his shoes. As we all know, the shoes for the groom might be the most important part of the bridegroom’s wardrobe, being one that will compliment his overall looks.

Thus, the bridegroom must take heed of the pointers here, if he wants a good pair of shoes that remains comfortable throughout the ceremony while looking good in his overall outfit:

Tip 1

Pick a pair of shoes that matches the color of your pants, or is in a darker hue than your pants’ color. Otherwise, make sure it matches your belt’s color.

Tip2

For socks, the safest bet will have it in a matching color as your shoes, or treat it like your tie or bow tie—get it in a color that compliments your attire’s color.

Tip 3

Choose your shoe according to the type of attire you’re wearing: dress pants and suits call for more formal-looking leather shoes; while attire with more flamboyant styles (e.g. shiny material) can go with dressier shoes.

Basically, a pair of matching shoes will depend on quite a few factors aside from those mentioned above. For a quick browse, we have found a simple guide on color matching for shoes, for the 4 most common colors of men’s shoes:

Black

Staying true as a universal color, this color works well with a wide range of dark colors—black, navy, even grey hues.

Burgundy

This color, more striking compared to brown and black, works with a number of light tones that ranged from earthly warm to water cool—khaki, light browns, lighter hues of blue and grey.

Brown

With a slightly warmer tone, this color complements other earthly tones such as tan, beige, brown, green and other darker earth tones (e.g. mahogany)

Tan

As the lightest of all the colors, it also goes well with various light tones, albeit the earthly ones or those within the spectrum of warm colors—beige, lighter tan, sometimes blue and even white.
