The annual Mother’s Day is a good opportunity for children all around the world, regardless of age group or social standing, to show their appreciation to their mothers. For married couples, it is also one of the opportunities a husband can go out and treat his wife to a special day or special gift, for being the special woman for him and his children.

However, do take note. The following are gifts that you, as a husband, should never, ever give to your wife on Mother’s Day, ever, if you wish to keep your marriage.

1.      Exercise equipment or gym membership vouchers

Unless you’re trying to tell your wife that she has gained pounds/ need to slim down etc. these items should never be on the gift list in the first place. An Ogawa massage chair could be different though.

2.      Pets Having a pet is like taking care of a child, and she already has her hands full taking care of the children—feeding them, bathing and clothing them, fetching them to school and all; unless she had wanted it, spare her the trouble.

3.      Plastic Surgery Packages

The same as item no. 1; these items actually carries a message implicating that her looks are no longer ‘nice to look at’, and you’re no longer interested in her unless she shape-up—bad idea, especially if you want your marriage to last.

4.      Household Appliance

While a vacuum cleaner may be useful (and has been a perfect housewarming gift), it is the least of romantic gifts, and your wife certainly doesn’t need to b reminded to vacuum the carpet on a Mother’s Day.

5.      Porn Movies Well, some may be into it, but for the ladies in our local society (more conservative ones especially), not all may appreciate such a gift. Sexy lingerie, however, may be a better choice.    6.      Clothes Clothes are a tricky article, with different cutting, material and such resulting in different fitting despite similar sizes. All said, leave out the clothes, but you may substitute with trinkets or accessories.
